The eyes swayed as if they might belong to a huge serpent, but they were a solid sour amber.  Nothing at all like snake eyes.

The eyes, and presumably the unseen head to which they were attached, continued swaying forward.

Part medical horror, part supernatural suspense, MERCY is a hard-hitting fever dream of a novel. I enjoyed the hell out of it!” ~ Tim Waggoner, author of The Way of All Flesh and Eat The Night

Pain and poetry flow in equal measure through these pages. Dunham’s prose strikes deep and hits all the right notes. MERCY is unforgettably vivid.” ~ David Dunwoody, author of Hell Walks and The 3 Egos

William Saint is dying of cancer. On most days death seems like a humane alternative to the treatment. Stricken with fever, William is rushed to Mercy—notorious as a place to send the sickest of the poor and uninsured to be forgotten—and finds the hospital in even worse condition than his previous visit. The grounds are unkempt, the foundation is cracking, and like the wild mushrooms sprouting from fissures of decay around it, something is growing inside the hospital. Something dark. It’s feeding on the sickness and sustaining itself on the staff, changing them. And now it wants Willie.

66: ZOMBIE WALK

T. Fox Dunham & Phil Thomas return (from the dead!) after a grueling October season with What Are You Afraid Of? Horror & Paranormal Show, Episode 66: Zombie Walk! They’re zombies! We’re dressed like zombies to participate in the Lansdale Zombie Walk. Early in the evening, they dressed up in gore and death then shambled up and down Main Street in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, enjoying the cool night air looking for fresh brains. After the walk, the horror authors gather at Comic Zen to record. Yes, those are fox ears T. Fox Dunham is wearing. He goes zombie in style!

Recorded on location at Comic Zen in Lansdale PA!

A quick note from owner Tim Hershey on what Comic Zen is all about. Comic books are meant to be an escape. They always have been, to me. Tim Hershey’s goal is to give you a place where you can come, find your next favorite comic or graphic novel (or toy or statue or collectible, etc.), and not feel left out of that escape from reality. There is only one condition to be included in this escape: Respect. He don’t care who you are, where you come from, how you earn money, what kind of car you drive, who your parents were, how you dress, or if you like my ’80s rock music. He will treat you with respect. And, he expects the same in return. But, it’s not just about him. You need to be willing to respect my other guests, who may be different than you. He enjoys diversity of all kinds in his store, and Tim will do everything he can to continue to foster, and protect, that diversity.

On this show, horror authors T. Fox Dunham & Phil Thomas talk about being zombies, recording during October, hang out with civil war ghost hunter, Tom Capper who presents some EVPs from their trip to Gettysburg and visit with other zombies who did the walk.

Fox interviews Max Booth III, author and proprietor of Perpetual Motion Machine Publishing, talking about the modern horror industry, his new podcasts and the cool new books coming out from PMMP. Max Booth III is the author of four novels. His mom has read at least one of them. He’s the Editor-in-Chief of Perpetual Motion Machine Publishing and an ongoing columnist at Litreactor.com. He works as a hotel night auditor in a small town outside San Antonio, TX. Follow him on Twitter @GiveMeYourTeeth and visit him at www.talesfromthebooth.com.

And they play the final installment of Daniel Braum’s chilling story A Man’s Guide to Costumes and the most Common ways to get Arrested from his collection, The Wish Mechanics.

The show features a song from Peter Aldrich, Jon Harman and David Williams, Dawn of the Dead! And a new true ghost experience from listener Bill Goff about a mistaken clerk at a store in Gettysburg recorded by British folksinger, David Walton. We have some great stuff coming in November & December!

65: TRICK OR TREAT

EPISODE 65: TRICK OR TREAT

(HALLOWEEN SPECIAL 2017)

We’re celebrating our amazing month of counting down to Halloween with a fun Halloween special, Trick of Treat, recorded live at Uncanny! Comic store in King of Prussia Mall.

After giving out candy and ghost stories during Malloween to the kids, horror author T. Fox Dunham and Bram Stoker award-winning author, PD Cacek hang out, talking about Halloween, ghost hunting and horror writing.

Patricia Diana Joy Anne Cacek (December 22, 1951, Hollywood, California) is an American author, mostly of horror novels. She graduated with a B.A in Creative Writing from California State University, Long Beach in 1975.

We play a story from clown author, J. Lee Dodson written especially for the show. A classic story of evil in a New England woods. Who is Jenny Greenteeth and what powers does she offer to those who will be corrupted?

Dad opened the door and waved us in. The rain poured from our soaked clothing. “What happened, Toby?” my father asked again with his hand on my shoulder. I told him my friends wanted to see where Parker buy had died and to prove there was no witch. But there is a witch. And it got Devin. Dad just looks at the three of us and walks away. “You are saying the witch only got one of you?” my father asked with a weird tone in his voice.

EVIL KLOWN SURVIVAL GUIDE

The Evil Klown Survival Guide will not only teach you about the history, knowledge and classifications regarding this new breed of carnivorous creature, it will also prepare you for the unimaginable – a world where TERRORKLOWNS become the dominant species.

Utilizing techniques such as: ghosting, staging safe-zones, choosing the correct weapons for battle and many more, will help in your daily task to survive.

This guide will help keep you and your loved ones safe … when humanity falls.

TOP TEN RULES OF SURVIVING A KLOWNED-OUT WORLD
1. ALWAYS keep your blades sharp to cut a klown down the middle like butter.
2. DO NOT decide to get up close and personal with your kill. It may be faking.
3. NEVER touch decaying klowns. The Klowning virus may still be present.
4. DO NOT use firearms against Alpha-Klowns. It only slows them down, it doesn’t kill them.
5. NEVER eat diseased klowns. The Klowning effect still remains in the corpses.
6. ZOMBIE-KLOWNS are not Hollywood fantasy, shoot them in the chest – not the head.
7. NEVER take The Quieting as a sign that the chaos is over. Stay hidden.
8. DO NOT eat popcorn from TERRORKLOWNS. It’s not food, it will kill you.
9. DO NOT run through hanging streamers, they’ll string you up for roamers to devour you.
10. DO NOT engage in battle with their leader – LAUGHING DARK. You will not win.

They play some great Halloween music, two short stories from authors J. Lee Dodson and Phil Thomas and even end the show with a cute movie discussion from Tim McLean and his son Jack. It’s been quite a month! Enjoy your Halloween and get your spooky on.

Watch the entire video on YouTube, recorded at Uncanny Comics in King of Prussia Mall!

61: PENNHURST ASYLUM

LISTEN TO EPISODE 61: PENNHURST ASYLUM

T. Fox Dunham & Phil Thomas are at haunted Pennhurst Asylum! This is their first show recorded on site at the closed Pennsylvania mental hospital. In addition to being a historic site of importance to scholars, at Halloween time, it opens as a spooky attraction, a haunted house with several buildings, each with different stories, to explore.

(From their website)

Pennhurst Asylum is a “Hospital” themed walk through attraction featuring many items and artifacts that are salvaged from the original State School. Located on the upper floors of the old Administration building, which dates to 1908, this attraction features fine detail and realism through a combination of high tech animatronics, digital sound and highly trained actors.

THE DUNGEON OF LOST SOULS
Enter the world of the underground as your soul is led down the steps of the past to go back in time to a labyrinth of dilapidated cells, never ending halls, and be forced to confront a series of human experiments that have gone horribly and deadly wrong. This experience includes CGI special effects, illusions, attention to detail and ghosts that have never left the halls.

CONTAINMENT (TUNNELS) NEW* 2017!
Containment is a new attraction for 2017 that takes you through a 1,200 foot long gauntlet underneath the Pennhurst complex. Stationed as a government facility hidden underground for decades, you will bare witness to patients being experimented on in the most inhumane ways possible. Lucky for you, this research facility is still accepting patients! The brand new sets and scares of this attraction are guaranteed to produce horrifying screams and nightmares to come.

Check out the website for tickets and days.

Open through the end of Halloween.

We’ll be back on October 13th to record another episode!

EPISODE 61! As part of our countdown to Halloween 2017, we hang out onsite while visitors enjoy the spooky show at Pennhurst Asylum. First, we do an interview with operation’s manager, Jim Werner. Jim tells us about both sides of the site’s notorious history. It has a bad reputation because of some terrible abuses that happened but it was also a place of life for many who thrived on this estate.

As is common for a site with a tragic history, Pennhurst is also renowned for its encounters with the paranormal. So many we spoke to have been touched by the other side. Often, the spirits fall into two categories of behavior: They’re seeking human contact or attacking with rage. We share several of the local ghost stories including that of Doctor Fear! Doctor Fear was a real doctor their on site who was brought up on charges after his abuses of patients came to light. Since then, his soul has returned to the decaying building. A famous EVP caught him speaking of burning bodies on the property.

We will have more ghost stories from the site on episode 62 after we speak to several ghost hunters who have explored the property and captured paranormal phenomenon.

Horror Author Daniel Braum

NEW MUSIC FROM ZOMBIE DANDIES

We’re featuring the punk music of The Zombie Dandies on the next few episodes. We start with Halloween Again.

The Zombie Dandies are a musical project from Normandy, France. The story of the group started in 2011, when two bored ghouls, Marty Dandy (Drums, Bass, Guitar & Vocals ) and K1000 Zombie (Guitar & Vocals), woke up from their graves with the unlikely idea of creating a glam-metal-meets-garage-rock musical project.

NEW GHOST STORY

While setting up, Fox encountered a young couple coming out early from the attraction. He spoke to the young woman, Ambrose, and recorded some of the paranormal encounters she’s suffered in her life. She tells the story of a religious doll who spews demonic speech!

Thanks to everyone who came out to see us at Pennhurst Asylum and we hope to see more of you on Friday, October the 13th!

Katrina Weidman: I’ve always had a passion for the supernatural and a desire to seek out the unknown! Growing up in haunted houses will kind of do that to you. As a child, I pored over any information I could find on the paranormal. I was fascinated that there were other houses like mine and wanted to know as much as I could. Ghosts, UFOs, cryptos, you name it, I was fascinated! Fast forward a few years to a trip to The Pennsylvania State University that changed everything! I dropped a friend off at the main campus one summer weekend, and the minute my feet hit the pavement, I had an overwhelming feeling that I needed to be there. Not being the academic type, I decided I had better pay attention to this feeling. The day I got back to my hometown, I signed up for classes at the local community college. It was there that I overcame the harsh words from that teacher long ago.

Currently, you can catch me on “Paranormal Lockdown” with my friend and colleague, Nick Groff, airing on TLC. “Paranormal Lockdown” follows Nick and me as we investigate and live in some of the world’s most haunted locations for 72 hours!

12: DARK TALES

LISTEN TO EPISODE 12: DARK TALES

Philly & Foxy return for our Spring-Summer season, bringing you dark stories, paranormal adventures and information for the working author.

We have a lot on Episode 12, preparing for some big stuff. Two true ghost stories recorded for you, sent to us from listeners. The first, Civil War Camp was sent to us from West Virginia, recorded by British folksinger, David Walton. We end the show with a sad tale of lost souls to this world from TM McLean from his time working at a British army base in Germany, The Hatch Girl of Hohne. The end will get you. Places remember…

The British army base where TM McLean worked is built on land with a tragic past.

We have two interviews tonight. The first is with one of the Dark Five, author J. Daniel Stone. We read with Ol’Stoney at the KGB Bar & Club in NYC in early April, hosted by the podcast. That recording will be presented as a special event in May.

J. Daniel Stone reads at Let the Darks Ones Rise at the KGB Club in NYC, hosted by the podcast.

We also have Harrison Astroff joining us from Stacks Hollywood Entertainment to tell us about his international streaming company—the future of the industry.

PMMP delivers to us a new noir story, a flash piece by author Aaron Fox-Lerner called Under the Bridge.

It’s a powerful episode, the beginning of a great summer for the podcast.
