75: ALIENS INVADE PHILADELPHIA

LISTEN TO EPISODE 75: ALIENS INVADE PHILADELPHIA:

Do you know how many UFO sightings have been reported in the Philadelphia region since the start of 2018? Hundreds of sightings go reported to various agencies and many more are kept secret. Though a number of these may have rational explanations, what are people really seeing?

Aliens are invading Philadelphia! Horror authors T. Fox Dunham & Phil Thomas bring you a special report on UFOs spotted around Pennsylvania, and according to the number of sightings they’ve uncovered, a fleet of flying saucers are hovering over the Keystone State! Researched from documented reports, the hosts expose a conspiracy of silence.

Author T. Fox Dunham shares a true story from his childhood. In 1985, he saw two UFOs flying high in the sky. Either they were alien, a trick of the light or some secret military experiment. He shares the story.

Two lights shot out from the horizon, seemingly flying up from some unseen launch pad in my region.

–Strange Lights Over Levittown from T. Fox Dunham

And they talk about aliens in science fiction, discussing such classics as Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Arthur C. Clarke’s Childhood’s End.

ANDY FOWLER

Fox interviews Netflix special effects’ director, Andy Fowler. Mr. Fowler has designed the effects for popular movies like 300, Noah, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, San Andreas and many others. He provides insight and advice for new filmmakers trying to make it in the movie industry and discusses how it’s changed over the last decade.

Andy Fowler is known for his work on 300 (2006), The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (2008) and The Revenant (2015). – IMDB BIO

ALIENS: ZONE OF SILENCE

Mr. Fowler’s new movie, Aliens: Zone of Silence is now available on Netflix.

After her brother mysteriously vanishes from the Mexican desert, a young woman sets out to uncover the otherworldly truth about his disappearance. Aliens: Zone of Silence is available on Netflix.

THE VERY MOST – INDIE MUSIC

The hosts also play some extraterrestrial music to set the mood. The indie band, And The Most, shares their song,
“Alien Girl” and the show closes with a strange techno song from SeJayno, “Alien Eyes”!

The Very Most was started in Boise, Idaho, USA by Jeremy Jensen in either 2002 or 2003 (he honestly can’t remember). Since that time, the band has released three full-length albums, seven EPs, and a bunch of miscellaneous tracks. Recorded entirely in Jeremy’s backyard studio (made from a converted shed), the music exists in a pretty little spot on the Venn diagram where The Beach Boys, Camera Obscura, New Order, Teenage Fanclub, and The Wedding Present meet. It makes heavy use of male/female harmony, vocal call-and-answer, and lushly layered instruments, both conventional and not-so-conventional. It’s all pop, and it’s all melodic, but it finds a lot of different ways of being melodic pop.

Live, the band has taken many different forms: from solo acoustic to a seven piece with a vibraphone. They’ve shared the stage with bands as varied as Built to Spill, The Ruby Suns, The Monochrome Set, and The Halo-Benders. They have played such festivals as NYC Popfest, Treefort Music Fest, and Indietracks (in the UK). Coming up is a compilation album of odds and ends, a 6ths-inspired EP of synth-pop with guest vocalists, and, with any luck, another full-length album.

GO EAGLES!

And congratulations Eagles! First Super Bowl win for Philadelphia. We’re pretty sure aliens didn’t influence the victory, though they may have caused some strange behavior in the city after the game. We’re Philly’s horror home, and the aliens aren’t just invading; they’re here.

Part medical horror, part supernatural suspense, MERCY is a hard-hitting fever dream of a novel. I enjoyed the hell out of it!” ~ Tim Waggoner, author of The Way of All Flesh and Eat The Night

Pain and poetry flow in equal measure through these pages. Dunham’s prose strikes deep and hits all the right notes. MERCY is unforgettably vivid.” ~ David Dunwoody, author of Hell Walks and The 3 Egos

William Saint is dying of cancer. On most days death seems like a humane alternative to the treatment. Stricken with fever, William is rushed to Mercy—notorious as a place to send the sickest of the poor and uninsured to be forgotten—and finds the hospital in even worse condition than his previous visit. The grounds are unkempt, the foundation is cracking, and like the wild mushrooms sprouting from fissures of decay around it, something is growing inside the hospital. Something dark. It’s feeding on the sickness and sustaining itself on the staff, changing them. And now it wants Willie.

74: GHOST DJ

LISTEN TO EPISODE 74: GHOST DJ

She’s a DJ to the dead. Cathy Gasch, author of My Life Amidst the Paranormal, returns for the second part of her interview on episode 74, Ghost DJ! Cathy has been seeing the dead all her life. She returns to tell us more ghost stories from her experiences and what it’s like living as a psychic. She even has a dead client who hangs out behind and sends her requests for an internet radio station. Also, Jasper Bark, British horror author, completes his interview, telling new indie authors what to expect when getting into a changing writing industry. New authors, heed his words! And, we play Cathy’s true ghost story, The Irish Millhouse, an experience she had while visiting Ireland. She’s an amazing storyteller, psychic and paranormal adventurer, Cathy Gasch.

CATHY GASCH – PARANORMAL AUTHOR

Cathy E. Gasch was born, raised, went to school, worked and still lives in the state of Maryland. She is currently semi-retired and lives in Washington County with her husband of thirty seven years and seven cats. She enjoys working in her yard and garden and enjoys making crafts. Most of Cathy’s leisure time is spent reading and researching family history as well as historical locations. She loves to travel and has been to Ireland, Scotland, England and many wonderful and fascinating places in the United States. Cathy’s paranormal experiences have spanned over 50 years, and through them, she continues to learn about herself and the world, often times, through the eyes of those who have passed on.

Cathy E. Gasch has been able to sense the paranormal all of her life. Take a journey with her through haunted houses and ancient ruins across three different countries, and discover for yourself what it’s like to be sensitive to the paranormal. Mischievous ghosts, spectral apparitions, and forgotten souls abound in this collection of true spooky tales!

Cathy did a great job describing what she has experienced of the spirit world since she was a child. It is down-to-earth (pun intended) and an easy read. Cathy’s stories and experiences may make believers of those who don’t “believe.” You just might relate to one or more of her spirit encounters. The book highlights the fact that young children often are more open to, and accepting of, the reality of spirits among us.Amazon Reviewer

As I lay there shivering I looked toward to the door that led out into the hallway and noticed that a white light was shimmering along the wall going all the way to the large window that overlooked the stream! — The Irish Millhouse from Cathy Gasch

Jasper Bark – How to Publish Horror

Jasper Bark is infectious. If you’re reading this then you’re already at risk of contamination. The symptoms will begin to manifest any moment now. There’s nothing you can do about it. You’ll become obsessed with his work, from the award winning collections Dead Air and Stuck on You and Other Prime Cuts, to cult novels like Way of the Barefoot Zombie and acclaimed graphic novels such as Bloodfellas and Beyond Lovecraft. Soon you’ll want to tweet, post and blog about his work until thousands of others fall under its spell. We’re afraid there is no way to avoid this, these words contain a power you are hopeless to resist. You’re already in their thrall and have been since you started this book. Even now you find yourself itching to read the rest of his work. Don’t fight it, give in to the urge and succumb to the joyous derangement it brings.
